Rebound

by Timothy Jaromir

/

about

Contrary to what the title of this single might suggest, "Rebound" is not about a love affair between two people, but rather about a love affair with oneself. More specifically: The song s about recognising what is good for you. After taking some time out, musician Timothy Jaromir realised that he would not find happiness in old patterns of behaviour: Took some time alone now I know myself – you’re the one, full stop, this ain’t a rebound.

"Rebound" is the first pre-release single from Timothy Jaromir's EP "Man Atlas", which will be released on September 6, 2024. It is therefore also the first sign of this very intimate, acoustic indie-folk record – and just as "Rebound" documents a maturing process, "Man Atlas" is based on the collective human experience: They are songs that deal with the
complexity of human existence.

"Rebound" was selected for the semi-finals of the International Songwriting Competition in the singer/songwriter category at the beginning of March 2024.

lyrics

Rebound
I grew up in the suburbs a place where no one would stay
all my friends there were older we didn’t have much to say
all my thoughts I wrote them down for you to see
late nights at the bar chasing after a story
the chain of events for that moment of glory
Will this ever be the life I truly want?
I’ve been lucky, and I’ve been out of luck
sunk my teeth too deep now I’m stuck
took some time alone - to know myself
you’re the one full stop this ain’t a rebound
Looking out over rooftops at the people below
all going places leaving trails in the snow
whatever made me say those things - I do not know
I’ve been lucky, and I’ve been out of luck
sunk my teeth too deep now I’m stuck
took some time alone - to know myself
you’re the one full stop this ain’t a rebound
all my days are filled with scenes that mirror life
I pick them up and make them mine
sometimes I’m distant caught in the story line
but it’s you who gives them life
I’ve been lucky, and I’ve been out of luck
sunk my teeth too deep now I’m stuck
took some time alone - to know myself
